A Simple 4-Step Process
We break down riding a bike into easy to follow steps. In each step we build more and more confidence in your child's abilities. Once each step is completed, the student is rewarded with a progress star and a quick break to get relaxed for the next step.
-
STEP 1
THE FLAMINGO
Our first step in the Learn2Ride process begins with practicing balance just standing over the bike. This gives the student the opportunity to explore how the bike can rock from side to side without falling over.
-
Step 2
The Frog Hop
The goal of the "Frog Hop" is to teach children to make confident, controlled, forward momentum while sitting on their bike seat, preparing them for the gliding phase.
-
STEP 3
GLIDE 15
Step 3 is the most challenging in the program. Students must glide on their bike without touching the ground with their feet for 15 seconds. We spend most of the class working on this skill.
-
STEP 4
FIND YOUR PEDALS!
Once the student has passed the 15 second challenge, we put the pedals back on the bike and give them individual instructions about what is coming next... Pedalling your bike on two wheels!!!
"Teaching a child to ride a bike is teaching them to
BELIEVE IN THEMSELVES."
